Prosecutors said a Seattle couple would likely not be faced with charges for a fatal hit and run after they fled in their car to avoid other people trying to attack them. Police reported a 30-year-old man living at a Seattle homeless encampment was run over and killed on July 27 after the couple with a two-week-old in the backseat sped away from a group of assailants who attacked the vehicle.

Video footage showed a verbal dispute at the camp escalated into a brawl as the group attacked the car with pieces of wood and a machete. The couple reportedly went to the encampment to locate recently stolen items.

In the video, the couple can be seen returning to their vehicle following the attack and circling a group of individuals with the car. The 30-year-old man was hit before the car sped away.

Prosecutors went on to say two men with extensive criminal histories have been arrested for the attack.
