Former President Bill Clinton has been admitted to the hospital in California. A spokesperson for the 42nd President said Thursday he was rushed to the University of California Irvine Medical Center on Tuesday.

The 75-year-old was put into an intensive care unit for a suspected blood infection, but officials noted he was in “good spirits.” He reportedly shows no COVID-19 symptoms or complications from a previous heart aliment.

“On Tuesday evening, President Clinton was admitted to UCI Medical Center to receive treatment for a non-COVID-related infection,” said Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Urena in a statement on Thursday evening. “He is on the mend, in good spirits, and is incredibly thankful to the doctors, nurses, and staff providing him with excellent care.”

The doctors noted Clinton is responding well to antibiotics and will remain at the hospital for at least two days for monitoring.
