Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis has been vocal about her love for her homeland in the past. Now that nationality is taking on new meaning as the country defends itself in a brutal war with Russia. First, her fellow “That ’70s Show” castmate and husband, Ashton Kutcher, shared his support for Ukraine on social media. Now the couple is pledging to donate up to $3 million to the cause.

Kutcher posted a video to his Twitter account Thursday detailing the couple’s plan. In it, Kunis said she was “proud” of her Ukrainian heritage and wanted to provide aid for refugees. Some estimates show that up to 1 million people are expected to flee the country as the Russian assault continues.

“I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983. I came to America in 1991. I have always considered myself American, a proud American, I love everything that this country has done for myself and my family. But today, I have never been more proud to be a Ukrainian,” Kunis explained.

“And I’ve never been more proud to be married to a Ukrainian,” Kutcher chimed in.

“The events that have unfolded in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity,” Kunis went on.

Next, the A-list couple promised to match $3 million in donations through a relief effort via GoFundMe, Fox News reported. The money will be distributed to Flexport.org and Airbnb.org, which have both been assisting Ukrainians in need directly.

“While we witness the bravery of the people of the country that she was born in we’re also witness to the needs of those who have chosen safety. We’re raising funds to support a relief effort that will have immediate impact and supply much needed refugee and humanitarian aid in the area. The principal challenge right now is logistics. We need to get housing, and we need to get supplies and resources into the area,” Kutcher said.

The couple is planning to match a combined $3 million to both organizations, they said, before urging followers to help in the effort to raise money.

“The people of Ukraine are strong and brave but being strong and brave doesn’t mean you’re not worthy of support. We need to support the people of Ukraine. Please help us,” Kunis said.

Kunis and Kutcher’s video message comes just days after Kutcher shared an important message for Russian citizens.

“If you know someone from Russia Call them and tell them their media is lying to them,” he wrote on Twitter. “Ukraine doesn’t want to fight, they just don’t want Putin’s government and don’t want to be occupied.”

The “No Strings Attached” actor also shared the same message in Ukrainian.

Previously, Kunis said her parents chose to come to the United States to give their children a better life. “It was very communist, and my parents wanted my brother and me to have a future, and so they just dropped everything,” Kunis told LA Times in 2008. “They came with $250.”
