Nick Cannon’s talk show “The Nick Cannon Show” has been canceled after barely five months on air during its first season.
“It’s never easy to cancel a production with clear potential, but after a great deal of deliberation and examining various options, we have made the difficult business decision to end production on Nick Cannon,” a statement form Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of the show’s producer-distributor, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, shared, reported PEOPLE magazine in a piece published Thursday.
“Our thanks go to the very talented Nick Cannon and our wonderful production team, and we wish Nick continued success with his many hit ventures,” the statement added.

Staff of the 41-year-old’s syndicated show were told Thursday that it wouldn’t be renewed for a second season, reported Variety.
The show had reportedly been struggling bringing in just 400,000 viewers from the start, reported Showbiz 411. The show will remain on air until May when the first season comes to an end, reported Deadline.
“The Love Don’t Cost A Thing” star landed the talk show host gig in 2020 after filling in for former TV talk show host Wendy Williams and reportedly impressing producers.
The New York Post reported that Cannon “was also a hot commodity when the show was announced because Fox’s ‘The Masked Singer,’ which he hosted, had become the No. 1 new show, drawing ‘more than 17 million … viewers in its record-breaking 2018 debut,’ according to Deadline.”
There was reportedly even speculation at the time he might even replace Williams if her health continued to keep her off the air. But after his show failed to generate a large amount of viewers, those plans reportedly fizzled out, reported the outlet.
The show was actually supposed to kick off sooner, but after Cannon made anti-Semitic comments on a podcast, it was held off until 2021, reported Variety. He has since apologized numerous times for them.
The host of “Wild ‘N Out” has been in the headlines quite a bit recently. He announced that he and Alyssa Scott had lost their infant 5-month-old son Zen to a brain tumor in December, sharing the news on his show as he broke down about their loss. The clip can be seen here.
Several months later, Cannon shared the news that he and his model girlfriend Bre Tiesi were expecting. It will be his eighth child.
Cannon shares 10-year-old twins Moroccan Scott and Monroe with his ex-wife superstar singer Mariah Carey. He is also father to a 4-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter with Brittany Bell. The TV host also has 7-month-old twins with Abby De La Rosa.
