SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated on Twitter Monday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.
Musk shared that he has “almost no symptoms.”
“Covid-19 is the virus of Theseus,” Musk said, referring to the mythical king of Athens.
“How many gene changes before it’s not Covid-19 anymore? I supposedly have it again (sigh), but almost no symptoms,” he added.

The announcement comes just one week after Musk visited Tesla’s plant in Gruenheide, Germany, to launch the automaker’s European hub.
“This is a great day for the factory,” Musk said, describing it as “another step in the direction of a sustainable future,” Reuters reported.
“Loud music played as 30 clients and their families got a first glimpse of their shining new vehicles through a glitzy, neon-lit Tesla branded tunnel, clapping and cheering as Tesla Chief Executive Musk danced and joked with fans,” the report added.
Musk previously announced testing positive for the coronavirus in November. The report made headlines at the time as Musk questioned the accuracy of various COVID-19 tests.
“Am getting wildly different results from different labs, but most likely I have a moderate case of covid. My symptoms are that of a minor cold, which is no surprise, since a coronavirus is a type of cold,” he said in November of 2020.

In another November 2020 post, Musk noted there is “no official standard” for coronavirus testing.
“Doing tests from several different labs, same time of day, administered by RN & am requesting N1 gene PCR cycle threshold. There is no official standard for PCR testing. Not sure people realize this,” he wrote.

The announcement of Musk’s positive test also comes after he said on Saturday that he is giving “serious thought” to launching a new social media platform that will be transparent with its algorithms, prioritize free speech, and will keep propaganda to a minimum. The Daily Wire reported:
Musk, who is the co-founder of Tesla and founder of SpaceX, made the remarks in response to a tweet that asked, “Would you consider building a new social media platform, @elonmusk?”
“One that would consist an open source algorithm, one where free speech and adhering to free speech is given top priority, one where propaganda is very minimal,” the tweet continued. “I think that kind of a platform is needed.”
Musk responded, “Am giving serious thought to this.”
The report also noted that Musk conducted an informal poll on Twitter, which stated: “Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?”
More than 2 million people responded to the poll, with 70.4% saying that Twitter did not adhere to the principle.
