Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on Monday reacted to a heckler who called her an “enslaver of women” with a quip about motherhood, bringing the audience at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library to loud applause.
As Barrett was explaining the circus of “aggressive” media attention she and her family received after she was named as a Trump nominee to the bench, a heckler is heard calling the mother of seven “an enslaver of women,” video from the event shows (see below).
Reacting to the heckler, Barrett looks annoyed, closes her mouth, and gives a smirk. The camera cuts away and the protester is presumably removed from the event.
When the video comes back on Barrett, the Supreme Court justice seems to compare the protester to a child who can’t control herself.
“Yes, fortunately, as a mother of seven, I’m used to distractions — and sometimes even outbursts,” she quipped.
The audience is heard loudly cheering Barrett’s reaction.
Fox News Producer Sean Langille reported on the incident, Monday: “During an event at the Reagan Library a protester calls Justice Amy Coney Barrett ‘an enslaver of women.’ Barrett later responds: ‘As a mother of 7 I am used to distractions, and sometimes even outbursts,’” he wrote.

During her confirmation hearings for the Supreme Court, Democrats routinely attacked Barrett’s Catholic faith.
A notable example was when Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) infamously attacked Barrett for her devout Catholic faith, telling her, “The dogma lives loudly within you. And that’s of concern.”
Similar to her reaction this week, Barrett held her own and impressed with the poise during the hearings. In one instance, the judge was called “legendary” after she was asked to show off the “notes” she was using to answer questions from lawmakers. She famously held up a completely blank notepad, The Daily Wire reported:
Barrett held up a blank notepad when Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) asked her to show the public the notes she’s been using to answer the numerous questions spat at her during day two of the confirmation hearings.
“Most of us have multiple notebooks and notes and books, things like that in front of us,” said Sen. Cornyn (video below). “Can you hold up what you’ve been referring to in answering our questions?”
Barrett held up a blank notepad.
“Is there anything on it?” asked Cornyn.
“The letterhead that says United States Senate,” the judge replied.
“That’s impressive,” said the senator.
