Hunter Biden is a supposed energy expert, extraordinary businessman, aspiring artist, attorney, and — according to his father, President Joe Biden — the “smartest guy” he knows. If all that were even remotely true, then book sales for Hunter’s memoir, “Beautiful Things” (Gallery Books, April 2021), indicate that he might be the most under-appreciated Renaissance man in American history.
According to book sales figures obtained by The Daily Wire, Biden has sold roughly 27,000 books. Biden was allegedly given a $2 million payment for the book by his publishers and appeared on national shows like “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” and CBS’s “Sunday Morning” to promote it.
For context, as noted by Mediaite, during the book’s launch week, “Biden’s tome ‘Beautiful Things’ moved a total of 10,638 copies in its first week.”
Those numbers were underwhelming and those sales were “quadrupled by no. 1 best seller Amanda Gorman.” That means a poet who performed at his dad’s inauguration sold more books in one week than Hunter’s “Beautiful Things” has ever sold.
So how can the “smartest guy” whom the president knows fail to sell what must be a fascinating story about a supposedly brilliant thinker?
Well, as one review in the New York Post put it, “Hunter Biden’s memoir — to the shame of an adoring media — is nothing more than a political fairy tale.”
“Sure, there are pages upon pages of Hunter smoking crack and cycling through rehabs,” Post reviewer Maureen Callahan wrote, in reference to Hunter’s narcotics addiction which led to him being discharged from the Navy due to his cocaine habit, “but the really interesting stuff is what he has explained away or left out entirely — worth revisiting here, not least because the national media is lapping up this trite and clichéd redemption narrative without, as President Biden’s pal and former boss Barack Obama might say, ‘checking under the hood and kicking the tires.’”
Amongst the missing stories is the truth surrounding how he reportedly became a millionaire based on apparent business deals with Chinese elites that Biden acquired purely because of his last name.
The Daily Wire has previously reported that, according to investigative author Peter Schweizer, Hunter and other Biden family members have made more than $31 million in business deals with businessmen tied to the Chinese Communist Party.
A recent report from The Daily Wire also added that, in connection to said deals, the federal government’s criminal investigation into Hunter has been “gaining steam.”
The Daily Wire noted that in 2018, the Department of Justice launched a criminal investigation into Hunter that centered on potential money laundering, tax fraud, the violation of foreign lobbying laws, and more.
At the center of the investigation was whether or not Hunter used his father’s position in the U.S. government over the last decade to secure millions of dollars in fraudulent overseas business deals. Evidence appears to show Hunter flaunted access to his father as a means of securing meetings and permits.
Yet Hunter generally avoids discussing any potentially illegal business activities in his memoir.
When he does discuss criticism of his overseas dealings — such as the lucrative position with the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma — Hunter glosses over former President Donald J. Trump’s criticisms as “the decade’s biggest political fable . . . most remarkable for its epic banality,” The Washington Post noted in a nauseating review.
As for Hunter’s infamous “laptop from hell” — the computer reportedly abandoned by Hunter at a Delaware computer repair shop that reportedly contains thousands of incriminating photos, files, and emails — in April 2021, during his book tour, Biden’s youngest son claimed that he had no idea if it was actually his or not.
“There could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me,” Hunter said on CBS’s Sunday Morning. “It could be that I was hacked. It could be that it was the — that it was Russian intelligence. It could be that it was stolen from me or that there was a laptop stolen from me.”
Recently, even the mainstream media had to confess that the laptop in question actually did belong to the failed author. The contents of that laptop potentially implicate the president.
As the RNC’s Ronna McDaniel recently said in an opinion column for The Daily Wire, what that laptop shows is that “Joe Biden’s son used his father’s influence to make money with dictators while he was sharing a bank account with the former Vice President and future President.”
Based on texts and emails from that device, Hunter also apparently paid some of his father’s bills and provided the current president a certain percentage of deals with overseas business partners. It seems the only way the truth will be revealed is through federal prosecution.
Despite the poor book sales, Hunter’s other career as an artist appears to be going quite swimmingly.
He has reportedly sold at least five pieces for $75,000 and one work for half a million. If that sounds sketchy to you, consider that the father’s White House has also issued an official warning about potential illicit actors about the dangers of making a living in the money laundering business.
The art industry is ripe for money laundering and fraud, according to the Biden administration. International buyers, potentially seeking to influence the president, could theoretically buy one of his son’s art pieces.
Fear not, the White House has assured the American people that Hunter’s sales have zero impact on the president’s policies as the buyers remain secret.
To that extent, just keep in mind these are the same people who stated Hunter’s laptop was Russian disinformation.
Since it doesn’t seem like selling physical copies of his books is taking off anytime soon, perhaps Hunter’s next venture will be in the digital art business. He can upload “Beautiful Things” online and auction it off to the highest bidder as an NFT.
All that being said, Hunter, of course, is not a Renaissance man. It does appear, however, that he knows how to make a pretty penny for himself based on his last name.
