Superstar A$AP Rocky is reportedly out of jail after posting $550,000 bail following his arrest earlier Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in connection with a shooting in the Hollywood area in 2021.
The 33-year-old rapper, born Rakim Athelaston Mayers, posted bail Wednesday and TMZ cameras captured him leaving the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters and getting into an SUV waiting outside after he was detained at LAX following his arrival on a private plane from Barbados. The rapper had been spending time with pregnant abortion activist girlfriend Rihanna, reported the outlet in a piece published Wednesday.
According to a release from the LAPDHQ posted on Twitter, Mayers was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a shooting on November 6, 2021, at 10:15 p.m. after an argument between two acquaintances occurred in the Hollywood area.

“The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim,” the statement read. “The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident and later sought his medical treatment.”
“Following the shooting, the suspect and two additional males fled the area on foot,” the statement from LAPD added. “Detectives worked diligently to investigate and corroborate the reporting information…”

The statement continued and explained how officers were then able to “identify the supect(s) involved,” who they have identified as Mayers, also known professionally as A$AP Rocky.
The case will now go to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for “filing consideration,” the press release read.
The arrest occurred at the Los Angeles Airport and involved the Los Angeles Police Department with the help of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations team, reported NBC News.
This is the not the first time Mayers has had legal trouble, as previously reported by the Daily Wire. In 2019, the “Good For You” hitmaker was arrested in Sweden following a street fight between his entourage and two other men. The rapper was convicted of assault. He had to pay more than $1,000 in damages and served a month in jail before being sentenced. No further time was handed down at the sentencing.
Following his release from behind bars, the “Wave Gods” hitmaker put out a statement calling the experience a “very difficult and humbling” one, reported Page Six at the time.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks,” Rocky wrote in a post on Instagram.
“I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you,” he added. “This has been a very difficult and humbling experience.”
Rihanna and the superstar rapper made headlines in January 2022 when they announced that they were expecting their first child together.
