Demi Lovato is changing things up, again. The 29-year-old singer made a real statement in May 2021 by coming out as non-binary and embracing they/them pronouns. But this week fans noticed Lovato adding she/her pronouns to Instagram.

That wasn’t the only change Lovato made. The former Disney star also debuted two new tattoos. On one shoulder Lovato has the word “love” and on the other it says, “fear.” The pop star added the simple caption, “duality” with a black heart emoji.

Lovato has more than 20 tattoos, according to Page Six, including words, lyrics, animals, and symbols. In January, the singer got a giant spider tattoo. The arachnid is inked on the side of Lovato’s head.

This move comes just weeks after the singer shared a photo on Twitter and Instagram that depicted the star wearing a skirt, suit jacket, sneakers, slicked-back hair, and a full face of makeup. The caption said, “You call me they, but I’m still daddy’s girl…”

The former Disney Channel star debuted a shaved head to Instagram on Christmas day 2021, which was the latest in a long line of surprising changes that year. Lovato also became an outspoken advocate for destroying “heteronormative thinking” after coming out as non-binary and changing to they/them pronouns.

The pop star spoke to People in June about the change. “I really believe that when I overdosed in 2018, it was because I was ignoring my truth,” Lovato told the publication. “I went to such great lengths to suppress who I really am to fit this sexy, feminine pop star and actress image that others had assigned for me that I never truly identified with. I did it though because I thought that’s how it was supposed to be.”

Lovato went on to say, “how important it is to live your truth and not suppress yourself.”

“You can only carry on like that for so long before it comes spilling out and manifesting, sometimes negatively, in other ways,” the “Heart Attack” singer continued.

Lovato also drew criticism for giving some provocative advice to fans. The star encouraged followers to  “be a slut” and make their own porn, The Daily Wire reported.

“Be a slut. Show your body. Get naked. Have all the safe, different, consensual sex you want. Be Kinky. Masturbate. Make/watch porn. Make money. … Just a reminder that being sexual is okay,” the star shared to social media.
