Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone was forced to pull out of his hotly anticipated UFC fight with Joe Lauzon Saturday night after a bout with some bad tacos left him with food poisoning, and the brawl has been rescheduled for next month in Austin, The Daily Wire has learned.
The two lightweights were set to fight Saturday night in the opener of UFC 274 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix in what would have marked Lauzon’s return to the ring after nearly three years. The top of the card is the UFC lightweight championship between current champ Charles Oliveira and former interim champ Justin Gaethje. The UFC hastily rescheduled Cerrone and Lauzon to do battle in the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on June 18.
“Cowboy is supposed to be fighting tonight, which would’ve been huge,” UFC President Dana White told The Daily Wire. “He decided to go eat at some taco place here last night and got food poisoning. So we had to move the fight to Austin.”

Both combatants made weight at Friday’s ceremonial weigh-ins.
Cerrone and Lauzon have combined for 13 Fights of the Night and in their UFC careers. Cerrone, who is tied for the most wins in UFC history, was looking for his first win since May 4, 2019. UFC president Dana White said during fight week that the loser of Cerrone vs. Lauzon should “pack it up and ride off into the sunset.”
The fight was originally slated for June 25, but was moved to the UFC 274 card.
