ALEXANDRIA, VA. — Pro-abortion rights activists demonstrated Monday evening outside Justice Samuel Alito’s Virginia home, reacting to the justice’s leaked draft opinion that indicated Roe v. Wade would likely be overturned.
“Abort the court! Abort the court!” protestors chanted as they stood in front of the Supreme Court justice’s home. The group of about 60 protestors was led by activists with ShutDownDC, a leftist group that frequently protests for progressive causes like abortion.
The justice’s home was guarded by members of both the Alexandria Police Department and the Fairfax County Police Department, The Daily Wire observed, who directed protestors to stay off the property and on the road.
Multiple neighbors who joined the protest and spoke with The Daily Wire said that they supported the demonstration in the residential neighborhood. One of these neighbors, 77-year-old Aija Karlsons, used canes to walk up the street and join the protest.
“I am pro-choice because I really think that no one should dictate the woman’s right about her reproductive … system,” she told The Daily Wire ahead of the protest as a small group of media waited outside Alito’s home.
Asked if she thought the protest would make the Alito family feel unsafe, she responded, “No. That family? No.”
“Let’s see how they do,” she said. “I do not condone going on the property, I mean, we are staying off the property right now, making our voices heard, he’s not even home. But we have to show something, we can’t be always neutral.”
“I don’t want to go to the dark ages,” she said with a chuckle.
Karlsons also told The Daily Wire that she did not object to the doxxing of the justices’ addresses by leftist groups, saying of pro-abortion rights protestors, “They’re not going to be coming from all over the country.”

The Daily Wire observed several protestors completely dressed in black who complained about the lack of vehemence from the group they were demonstrating with. These black-clad protestors listened as their fellow demonstrators delivered prepared remarks, shouting out their pro-abortion stances from the back of the crowd.

Abortion groups nationally have called for a large-scale backlash to the momentous news, calling for protesting at the homes of Supreme Court Justices and even in Catholic masses. Protestors have already shown up to demonstrate at Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s and Chief Justice John Roberts’ homes before showing up at Alito’s home on Monday.
“White females benefit from white male patriarchy,” read one sign.
“Get the f*** out,” read another sign depicting someone giving the middle finger.
The protestors lit candles and placed them on the ground in front of the house. When the crowd departed, they left the candles behind to burn out on the ground.

The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire on this matter.
