Royal aides have reportedly shared that they are “looking into reports” that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could be back and taking on their royal roles if their Netflix and media plans fail.
Daily Mail editor-at-large Richard Kay reports that “aides are also looking into reports that” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might be “tempted to return to the royal fold” if their entertainment goals fall short, after Netflix canceled Markle’s animated series “Pearl,” the outlet reported in a piece published Wednesday.
Kay wrote that “if their media careers turn out to be less enduring than they had hoped. Their deals with under-pressure streaming giant Netflix no longer seem quite so promising, while the arrangement with Spotify is yet to materialize.”
“For now, there is no doubt that the couple are on probation during their four-day stay,” the editor added.
Netflix previously had promised to produce an animated show that was supposedly going to be partially based on Markle’s life, and it’s since been rumored to be working on a behind-the-scenes look at the couple’s life, an “at home with the Sussexes” docuseries for the streaming site that reportedly will come out later this year, GB News noted.
The former “Suits” actress was spotted Thursday with the Royal Family for the first time in two years
during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebration at Buckingham Palace, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
In photos that surfaced on social media, the wife of Prince Harry was seen in the background near the balcony where the Queen, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children were prominent during the Trooping the Colour annual celebration held in honor of the monarch’s birthday.
On Friday, Markle and Prince Harry made a public appearance at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the National Service of Thanksgiving as part of the continued celebrations in honor of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 years on the throne. The royal couple was greeted with cheers and boos as they exited the church.
In March of 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal roles, and eventually ended up leaving the United Kingdom, moving to Southern California where they raise their two children.
