Following the historic ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade and its federalized protection of abortion, the loud-mouthed, maple syrup-loving leader of America’s neighbor to the north felt it was his moral duty to offer his two cents on the matter.
Following the opinion’s release on Friday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau launched into a tirade on Twitter in which he pronounced his shock at the “horrific” Dobbs decision that will allow U.S. states to extend legal protections to the unborn.
“My heart goes out to the millions of American women who are now set to lose their legal right to an abortion. I can’t imagine the fear and anger you are feeling right now,” Trudeau said in melodramatic fashion.
The richest part of Trudeau’s statement, however, came in a follow-up tweet, where the Canadian prime minister said that “[n]o government, politician, or man should tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body.”
Putting aside the fact that abortion actively infringes upon the unborn child’s body more intrusively than the mother’s, Trudeau’s faux argument is laughably hypocritical considering his recent use of force to coerce Canadians into receiving the Covid jab. Earlier this year, the Canadian federal government initiated a series of vaccine mandates for various sectors of society, including a requirement for truckers crossing the U.S.-Canada border.
The unjust mandate from the state ultimately sparked the launch of the “Freedom Convoy,” a massive protest comprised of truckers that began in the western province of British Columbia and ended outside Parliament Hill in the Canadian capital of Ottawa. Unlike his supposed concern for extending bodily autonomy to the point of killing unborn babies, Trudeau offered no sympathy for truckers uncomfortable with receiving the Covid shot and proceeded to orchestrate a governmental power grab to crush the protesters challenging his authority.
Evoking the Emergencies Act, Trudeau and company mobilized the country’s military and intelligence agencies to forcibly remove the protesters gridlocking Ottawa. In addition to backing GoFundMe’s attempts to deplatform fundraising efforts for the convoy, Trudeau’s administration also expanded “its terrorist financing rules to target crowdfunding sites like the convoy’s new platform GiveSendGo,” with Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland claiming that the platforms were “being used to support illegal blockades and illegal activity which is damaging the Canadian economy.”
Leaving nothing on the table, Trudeau—who went into hiding upon the convoy’s arrival in Ottawa—also took the time to smear those protesting the mandates with the usual diatribe of left-wing slanders. During a January press conference, the wannabe dictator referred to the truckers as a “small fringe minority of people” with “unacceptable views” and later went on to accuse protesters of flying “racist flags” and displaying “symbols of hatred and division.”
“Today in the House, Members of Parliament unanimously condemned the antisemitism, Islamophobia, anti-Black racism, homophobia, and transphobia that we’ve seen on display in Ottawa over the past number of days,” he said in a tweet. “Together, let’s keep working to make Canada more inclusive.”
The mental gymnastics it takes for Trudeau to rationalize forcing truckers to get the Covid vaccine against their will while also preaching that women’s autonomy over their own bodies extends to depriving another body of life is stunning, but unsurprising. Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic, leftists have routinely shown the world that their devout belief in “my body, my choice” is a complete and total farce.
The very neo-Marxists falsely screeching about how the Dobbs ruling restricts a “woman’s right to choose” are also the same ones who had no problem with their fellow citizens losing their jobs or being segregated from public life for opting not to take an experimental vaccine. The ability to hold one view and not the other is indicative of today’s modern left, which has routinely demonstrated a willingness to put ideology over principle. It’s not that leftists don’t see the hypocrisy in their arguments; it’s just that they don’t care.
For tyrants like Trudeau, all that matters is satisfying the current statist worldview, in which values like integrity, fairness, and honesty are left out to dry.
