Joe Rogan pointed out all the ways “woke Twitter” is the latest “non-spiritual religious cult” as he spoke to his guest, tech entrepreneur Marc Andreesen, who said it’s human nature to want to be part of the group.
In a clip Rogan recently retweeted from his Spotify “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, the host and Andreessen compared the social media platform to “evangelical Protestantism,” with Rogan’s guest noting how humans “want to be members of groups” and “cults.”
“Because humans, we want to be members of groups,” Andreessen explained. “We want to reform into new cults. We want to reform into religions. We want to develop new ethical and moral systems and hold each other to them.”

“A hallmark of any religion is some crazy, some belief that strikes outsiders as completely crazy,” he added. “What’s the role of that crazy belief? The role is that by professing your belief in the crazy thing, you basically certify that you’re a member of the group …”
“That’s woke Twitter!” Rogan stated.
“So, woke Twitter has basically recreated, they are a non-spiritual religious cult,” Andreessen replied, to which Rogan agreed.
“They exhibit all the same religious behaviors,” he added. “They have ex-communication. They have sin. They have redemption or lack thereof. They have original sin, privilege.”
“Proclamations of piety,” Rogan added, which is the idea that one shows their virtue by sharing how “woke” they are, in this case.
Andreessen noted how “they have church” which are DEI seminars, which stands for “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.” He also claimed “the woke” on social media have essentially “recreated evangelical Protestantism” in some form.
The podcast host, who calls himself a liberal, previously slammed those on the Left who want to suppress thoughts and ideas, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
“Who would’ve thought that, if you look back on the early days, what we used to think of as conservative versus liberal, liberal was pro-free speech,” Rogan shared. “People were open-minded, non-violent. And people were open to other people’s ideas.”
The host said that previously the “Right was like a suppressive, nanny state, condemned certain language, condemned certain behaviors. That’s not the case today. Today, the Left has gone so f***ing far Left, so radical, that the Right are the ones that are celebrating comedians, and celebrating [Dave] Chappelle.”
