Actor Craig Robinson said “thanks be to God no one was hurt” after the North Carolina Club where he was set to perform had to be evacuated after a man with a gun entered the venue and opened fire.
In a message the 50-year-old shared on Instagram Sunday, Robinson praised the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, security, and staffers that were able to get him and others away from danger after a man allegedly shot a gun inside the building.
“About last night… Thank you to the Comedy Zone security and staff for getting us to safety quickly,” the comedian’s post read. “Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes.”
“Thank you CMPD [Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department] for swift action in apprehending the shooter,” he added. “Hopefully he gets the help he needs. Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone.”

“The quick-thinking and professionalism that you all showed in a very volatile situation, that could have escalated quickly, is extremely commendable,” he added. “I personally thank you for representing the city and your CMPD Family with such bravery and thank you for continually keeping our community safe.”
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the Comedy Zone also thanked its staff, who “immediately jumped into action and got everyone safely out of the building,” as well as the CMPD for “their swift response and peaceful resolution to the situation.”
Following the incident, both of the “Hot Tub Time Machine” star’s shows scheduled for Sunday night were canceled, and refunds were issued to those who came Saturday.
