A pack of wild monkeys stole a baby boy from a couple in India late last week and killed the child by throwing him off the roof.

The boy’s father was standing on the family’s third-story terrace with his wife when the pack of wild monkeys aggressively confronted them.

The father tried running away with the newborn in his arms but accidentally dropped the baby while stumbling, at which point the monkeys picked the boy up and threw him off the roof.

The father reportedly cried out for help while trying to escape the violent monkeys but other family members were not able to reach him in time and when they arrived they were subsequently attacked by the monkeys.

Monkeys can be violent towards humans and their confrontations with people have been known to result in deaths.

In June, a monkey stole a baby that was being breastfed by its mother in Africa and killed the baby as local villagers tried to get the baby back.

In January, a gang of wild monkeys snatched a two-month-old baby from the terrace at the home where he lived and threw him in a water tank, where he drowned to death.

In 2019, a 60-year-old woman was killed in India after she was chased off a terrace by a gang of wild monkeys. Another woman suffered serious injuries during the attack.

In 2018, a 12-day-old baby was stolen from his mother’s arms as she was breastfeeding him and killed after the monkey repeatedly bit the child.

“There are too many monkeys in the area. We live in fear,” the baby’s uncle said. “We have told the administration so many times to help us but they haven’t done anything. The mother of the baby is too distraught to even speak.”

“I have lost my grandson,” the baby’s grandmother said. “Just a few hours before the monkey attacked our baby, I had him in my arms. Our baby didn’t have to die. People will talk about it for a while and then forget it. But we have to live with the reality that our baby is gone.”
