Britney Spears reacted Friday to the news that her collaboration with Elton John “Hold Me Closer” soared to the number one spot in more than 30 countries, including the United States.

In a video the 40-year-old pop singer posted on Twitter, where she has 55 million followers, Spears sent a message directly to the legendary singer and made it clear she was more than a bit shocked that the song they dropped just hours before, a remix of Elton’s 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer,” was rocking music charts across the globe.

“Hello Sir Elton John, we are like number one in 40 countries,” Spears shared. “Holy s***! I’m in the tub right now and I’m about to go have the best day ever. And I hope you’re well!” The clip has also gone viral after being seen 1.5 million times at the time of this publication.

The song sits at number one on the iTunes chart in the U.S., and 34 other countries, Fox News noted. The official video on YouTube has also gone viral with 1.7 million views and counting.

The 75-year-old hitmaker also reacted to the news on his social media, tweeting to his one million plus followers how “thrilled” he was at the response.

“I’m thrilled with the response to #HoldMeCloser,” the singer wrote. “I wanted to do a fun, happy summer track so was ecstatic when [Britney Spears] agreed to be a part of it! She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars & I love her dearly. I hope you all love it!”

On Wednesday, the “Criminal” hitmaker tweeted that she was “overwhelmed” by the song’s success.

“Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years!” Spears tweeted. “It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time … [Elton John] I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me! I’m meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious!”

Less than a year ago, the “Toxic” singer was trying to get out of her nearly 14-year conservatorship. In November, a judge ruled to terminate the conservatorship Spears had been under since 2008, controlled by her father Jamie Spears.

On Wednesday, the “Gimme More” hitmaker announced details about her upcoming collaboration with the “Cold Heart” singer, and then deleted her Instagram, as The Daily Wire previously reported.

“I’m learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy … yes I choose happiness today,” Britney tweeted. “I tell myself every day to let go of the hurt bitterness and try to forgive myself and others to what may have been hurtful.”
