President Joe Biden’s stated multiple lies about Georgia’s newest election law on Thursday. When a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki if she would be correcting the president’s false statements, she doubled down on the lies.
Psaki stood behind the false narrative pushed by Democrats that the law would make it harder for people to vote by cutting poll hours and preventing people from getting food or water while waiting at the polls.
“[The law] standardizes the ending of voting every day at five, right?” Psaki asked. “It just gives options. It gives options to expand it, right, but it standardized it at five. It also makes it so that outside groups can’t provide water or food to people in line, right? It makes it more difficult to absentee votes, are those things all correct?”
The reporter quickly corrected Psaki that voting on election day is a standardized 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a fact that even leftist Washington Post fact-checkers acknowledged, but she would not budge when he also asked if the White House’s tone concerning the law would change.
“The tone for a bill that limits voting access and makes it more difficult for people to engage in voting in Georgia?” Psaki asked before accusing Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp of making comments about the law that are “not based in fact.” “No, our tone is not changing.”
Psaki claimed the law would “make it harder and more difficult for people to vote” and therefore, it explicitly does not have the support of Biden or his administration.
“If you’re making it harder to vote, no we don’t support that,” Psaki said.
Here's over a minute and a half of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki blatantly lying about the Georgia voting law — absentee voting, early voting, poll hours, water…just about everything.

Biden has repeatedly lied about the contents of Georgia’s newest election reform package. During his first press conference in late March, Biden claimed that the “Jim Crow in the 21st century” ends voting hours early, making it difficult for working Americans to get to the polls after they leave their jobs for the day. The president repeated the falsehood in an official statement released just one day after his presser, claiming that “among the outrageous parts of this new state law, it ends voting hours early so working people can’t cast their vote after their shift is over.
Biden also told ESPN on Wednesday that Georgia’s new election reform law not only bans water and food in polling lines but also closes polls early so working people can’t vote.
“This is Jim Crow on steroids, but they’re doing it in Georgia and 40 other states,” Biden said. “Imagine passing a law saying you cannot provide water or food for someone standing in line to vote. Come on. Are you going to close a polling place at 5:00, where can people just get off? This is all about people, working folks, ordinary folks that I grew up with, from being able to vote.”
Even though the White House is convinced the new law engages in voter suppression, the new law mandates that polls be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day and also provides exceptions for “poll officers” to give voters food and water as long as they are not given by political interest groups.
