President Donald Trump labeled the results of the November election the “BIG LIE” in a Monday statement moments after House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney of Wyoming used the term to condemn those who claim the race was stolen.
“The Fraudulent Presidential Election of 2020 will be, from this day forth, known as THE BIG LIE!” Trump wrote.
Minutes earlier, Cheney, who led the futile effort to recruit House Republicans to support Trump’s January impeachment, tweeted that those who continue to deride the fall contest as stolen were perpetuating “THE BIG LIE.”
“The 2020 presidential election was not stolen,” Cheney wrote on Twitter. “Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.”

The feud between the two has only continued to escalate since Trump’s departure from office months after contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election. Joe Biden clinched the office by less than 43,000 votes across three tipping-point states.
Cheney, a three-term congresswoman who serves as No. 3 in GOP House leadership, survived a referendum on her conference chairmanship in February, emboldening the Wyoming representative to escalate her public feud with the ex-president. House lawmakers have begun to float the idea of a second referendum on her position leading the conference.
