A Florida concert promoter announced he will be charging concertgoers $18 if they are vaccinated and $999 if they are not. Paul Williams of Leadfoot Promotions told reporters that concertgoers must bring a photo ID and their vaccination card to purchase the discounted tickets to next month’s show. Williams is hoping to encourage people sitting on the fence about being vaccinated to get vaccinated.

Williams reportedly said, “I also wanted it to be a vaccine drive to get the fence-sitters off the fence. I wanted to get the kids that want to go to shows to go out and get their shots.”

The punk rock concert was announced the same day Florida Gov. Ron Desantis signed a bill that penalizes businesses verifying vaccinations, $5,000 per violation. The concert will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida on June 26, five days before the law goes into effect on July 1.

The promoter explained that he isn’t denying entry to unvaccinated individuals, he simply said their ticket will just be more expensive. Although, Williams said so far no one has bought any of the $999 tickets.
