At a briefing on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki outlined Joe Biden’s plans to reopen the U.S. consulate in Jerusalem. She claimed the closure of the consulate back in 2019 cut off Palestinian leaders, but failed to mention the several factors at play.
Critics have argued the relationship with the Palestinian authority was altered due to their refusal to negotiate and failure to stop paying stipends to terrorists as well as their families.
This came after President Trump moved the U.S. Embassy back to Jerusalem in 2018 and cut taxpayer funded aid to the region, so that U.S. taxpayers would no longer be contributing to the funding of terror.

Biden claimed that by reversing Trump’s policies, the U.S. would be able to revive dialogue with the Palestinians. However, he has yet to make any progress towards peace over the course of his time with the Obama administration nor his own.
