A Wisconsin Democrat is in the hot seat as a powerful GOP fundraising arm goes after him ahead of 2022’s high-stakes elections. The National Republican Congressional Committee, or NRCC, launched a new ad targeting Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.).

The ad highlights reports, which show a property owned by the congressman has been rented to a spa that advertises on sites where users can pay for sex.

The advertisement also accuses Rep. Kind of having poor judgment for having ties to such businesses and questions whether voters will hold him accountable.

“What’s Ron Kind hiding?” the advertisement asks. “Reports reveal Kind made tens of thousands of dollars from a seedy massage parlor.”

Asian Sunny Massage in La Crosse, formerly known as Impression Spa, opened in April 2018. On its opening day, the establishment posted advertisements on “Body Rubs Map,” a website that claims to be the “best alternative to ‘Backpage.’”

The now-seized website was known as the “largest online U.S. marketplace for sex trafficking.” Ads were found under the “women and men” subsection for dating. While the parlor’s owner has maintained they only perform massages, the spokesperson for the NRCC said Kind needs to “come clean and explain what’s been going on at his property.”

“Since the massage business opened in May of 2018, there have been 7 calls police have made to that address,” the advertisement notes. “The industry has been proven to be a component of human sex trafficking.”

While the Democrat has yet to announce if he’s running for reelection, the NRCC has urged voters to call on Kind to stand up to sex traffickers. NRCC Spokesman Mike Berg warns that if Kind runs for reelection, voters will “hold him accountable for his poor judgment.”
