The National Republican Congressional Committee is targeting 10 additional Democrats in the House for 2022 as the GOP looks to regain control of the chamber.
Roll Call noted all 10 of the incumbent Democrats are in states set to lose a House seat as result of the 2020 census.
The seats are in addition to the 47 Democrat-held seats the NRCC announced in February were being targeted.
The initial 47 were broken into three groups. In the first group, there are 29 Democrats who hold districts where there were tight races at the congressional and presidential races in the last cycle, including Democrats from once-GOP-held suburban areas, lawmakers in more GOP-friendly regions, and members in heavily Latino districts near the border with Mexico.
The second tier includes eight Democrats who are considered less vulnerable but who still won by fewer than 10 points or who underperformed President Joe Biden in their local districts, including Reps. Colin Allred, D-Texas, and Sharice Davids, D-Kan.
In the final tier, 10 members whose seats could be changed during redistricting are listed, including Reps. Deborah Ross, D-N.C., and John Garamendi, D-Calif.
Roll Call noted that some of the 47 have since said they will not seek reelection, including Rep. Cheri Bustos, R-Ill.
“We’ll follow through on a game plan,” Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., chairman of the NRCC told Politico in February. “Hopefully, people will allow us to operate under the radar again because they won’t believe us, and we can surprise all of you again two years from now.”

“Republicans are on offense all across the country,” Emmer said. “Every House Democrat is facing an uphill battle having to defend their toxic socialist agenda that prioritizes trillion-dollar tax hikes on the middle class, opens our borders, closes our schools, and defunds the police.”
Meanwhile, House Democrats insisted they have a winning message going into the midterms.
“House Democrats head into the midterms with a disciplined electoral strategy, strong grassroots fundraising, and legislative wins for the American people that are putting shots in arms, cash in pockets, reopening schools, and getting people back to work,” said DCCC spokesperson, Chris Taylor, in an email to Roll Call. “Meanwhile, House Republicans are being led by QAnon conspiracy theorists, and are dead set on ripping apart our democracy with suppressive voting laws and unfair maps.”
