An Arizona rancher is warning a surge of migrants at the border have Border Patrol agents and communities overwhelmed.
In remarks on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” Arizona rancher John Ladd lamented the increase — and tolerance by the Biden administration.
“We got spoiled with Donald Trump,” Ladd said.
The rancher, who lives along the Arizona-Mexico border and has been witnessing the situation escalate firsthand, said the Biden administration is “letting everybody come now” over the border.
“It’s going to ruin our country,” he asserted.
“It started before Biden even took office,” Ladd said. “As soon as the election was over, he promised amnesty to 11 million people. Here they come.”
President Joe Biden has signed a number of executive orders that counter policies by former President Donald Trump — including a 100-day moratorium on deportations.
Under the Biden administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement primarily apprehends and removes people who pose a threat to national security, and have committed crimes designated as “aggravated” felonies or recently crossed the border, according to guidelines released last month.
Trump directed ICE to apprehend anyone who was in the country illegally.
In his interview on “Fox & Friends,” Ladd derided anyone who denies there’s now a crisis at the border.
“They’re living under a rock somewhere,” said.
Biden signed 17 executive actions during his first day in office — many of which reversed Trump administration policies and directives — like the cancellation of border wall funding and construction.
“We’ve had the contractor down here since last April working on Donald Trump’s 30-foot wall. They [the Biden administration] shut them down five weeks ago,” Ladd told “Fox & Friends.”
“You talk about a crime — 300 to 400 people down here in the small towns of Arizona had a good job, we’ve got material laying on the ground, we got a batch plant ready to make concrete but it’s been idle for five weeks.”
Biden has faced mounting criticism from some Republicans, including Trump, for a spike in migrant crossings — particularly by unaccompanied minors — that some say threaten to overwhelm government shelters.
“Joe Biden’s decision to cancel border security has single-handedly launched a youth migrant crisis that is enriching child smugglers, vicious criminal cartels, and some of the most evil people on the planet,” Trump said in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Feb. 28.
The White House dismissed Trump’s comments.
“We don’t take our advice or counsel from former President Trump on immigration policy, which was not only inhumane but ineffective over the last four years,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a press briefing last week.
