President Joe Biden created the crisis at the nation’s border and he should go there as quickly as he can to see what he has done and what he can do to fix it, Sen. Rick Scott said Tuesday.

“We need to secure the border and do it humanely,” the Florida Republican said on Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria,” adding that he hopes the American people will demand accountability in the next election for the border situation and the other actions Biden has taken since he was sworn in.

“I think the American public is fed up with this,” said Scott. “They want a secure border and they want our schools open and they don’t want tax increases. They want us to support law enforcement. The Democrats are on the opposite side of the issues.”

Scott said he recently went on aerial tour with Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and saw the work that had been completed on the border wall and the technology that American taxpayers paid for, but that the Biden administration said will not be used.

“In the town of Douglas (Arizona), they had to provide extra security because people were just climbing the wall,” said Scott. “We’ve talked to the Border Patrol. They’ve had to shut down checkpoints in Arizona.”

Scott said he thinks that voters will have “a lot of buyers’ remorse” heading into the 2022 elections.

“Joe Biden didn’t come and say I will open borders and close schools,” said Scott. “This is not what he promised … people are getting fed up with what the Democrats are doing. This place is dysfunctional.”

Scott heads the Senate Republicans’ campaign arm, and he said he wants to help GOP senators get elected and solve the problems of the country.

“We need a better economy,” he said. “We don’t need $30 trillion worth of debt and don’t need the Federal Reserve buying up treasuries. We have to act responsibly. As governor (of Florida) I paid down a third of the debt. We added 1.7 million jobs. We improved our schools. That’s what people, that’s what Americans want and that’s what Republicans stand for and we will have a great ’22.”

Meanwhile, attorneys general from across the country are filing lawsuits concerning the Biden administration and immigration laws, and Scott said he’s asking “everyone that comes in front of me” if they will enforce the law, as the administration isn’t.

“They are not spending the dollars, they are shutting down things we paid for,” said Scott. “This makes no sense. If the American public understands it and gets riled up, the right thing will happen.”

Meanwhile, the nation needs to have legal immigration, and the “so-called COVID bill which was just a liberal payback bill” will take the nation’s debt to $30 trillion.

“That means about $1 out of $7 of revenues we will collect this year we will pay in interest expense,” he said. “I mean, inflation is going up and it’s caused by the federal government and the Federal Reserve that doesn’t understand how reality works. You can’t just go spend money, spend money. You are talking about now $3 trillion that they want to spend and increasing all sorts of taxes. They want to increase gas taxes, taxes on electric cars, estate taxes, income taxes, where does this end? We just all work for the government?”

He continued that he is “sick and tired of these tax increases. I cut taxes as governor a hundred times and our economy prospered. Revenues grew. That’s what we ought to be doing. Cut taxes, reduce regulation and making it easier to get a permit. That’s the opposite of what the Biden administration and the Democrats are doing.”
