More Democrats will start speaking out against the sexual harassment allegations being made about New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as he has a “lack of goodwill in his reservoir,” Rep. Lee Zeldin said Tuesday.
“You could call his support a house of cards,” the New York Republican told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.”
“How many more state legislators, members of the media, others need to talk about the way that they have become victimized by that approach of intimidation and abuse that Governor Cuomo has followed?”
The New York Times reported Monday that a third young woman, Anna Ruch, has accused Cuomo of making unwanted sexual advances toward her. Ruch was not an employee for Cuomo’s office like the others who have accused him of acting improperly.
Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., has joined in the calls for Cuomo to step down, tweeting a link to the Times’ article and commenting “the time has come. The Governor must resign.”
Zeldin Tuesday praised Democrats for speaking out about Cuomo, a powerful member of their own party, but stressed that they should not forget the governor’s major scandal, an alleged cover-up of nursing home deaths in New York.
“It really makes you want to say kudos to Assemblyman Ron Kim and some of the others who were the ones to speak up early because of the nursing home cover-up,” said Zeldin. “That was with regard to the loss of life.”
