Rock star Ted Nugent announced he tested positive for coronavirus in a video posted Monday on Facebook.

A staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, Nugent repeatedly has downplayed the seriousness of coronavirus, and has called it fake.

In his video, he said, “I have had flu symptoms for the last 10 days. And I just, I thought I was dying.”

Nugent said he went to the doctor, who recommended he be tested for COVID-19. Initially reluctant to do so, the musician eventually agreed. The test results were positive, according to Mediaite.

Throughout the last year, Nugent has said coronvirus was “not a real pandemic,” and claimed the death toll from the disease had been exaggerated.

He harshly criticized vaccines, saying in his latest comments he still won’t get one.

“Nobody knows what’s in it,” he said. “If you can’t even honestly answer our questions of exactly what’s in it and why are you testing it on human beings and forcing it on people in such a short period of time.”

Nugent said in his Facebook post that “I’ve never been so sick in all my life,” adding that “I’ve got a stuffed up head, body aches. My God, what a pain in the ass. I literally could hardly crawl out of bed the last few days.”

He went on to suggest there is no point in being tested for coronavirus, and downplayed the need for social distancing, mask wearing, and being vaccinated against the virus, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Beneath his post, the 72-year-old rock star’s fans wished him a speedy recovery, MarketWatch reported.

His critics, however, appear to be gleeful in the news Nugent was stricken with the very coronavirus he denied was serious, and about which he spread misinformation.
