Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) held a joint press conference on the border crisis where they both agreed that something has to change at the southern border. Cuellar, whose 28th district in Texas has been overrun by illegal migrants, joined Graham for the press conference in Washington, D.C. on Friday.
Sen. Graham stressed that you can’t legalize people until you first secure the border. “This idea of putting DACA in the infrastructure package is a horrible idea until you have fixed the border,” said Graham.
The bipartisan meeting of the minds came to the conclusion that they now need to urge Joe Biden to create a special position, whose focus would solely be on the border and to tackle the problem with a fresh set of eyes. Both Cuellar and Graham suggested former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson as the man for the job.

After his phone conversation with residents, business owners and concerned parents in Texas’ 28th district, Graham called on the Biden administration to have a so-called time out and immediately provide relief for those border cities being overrun by illegal migrants. Sen. Graham directly appealed to Dr. Anthony Fauci to respond to his letter outlining how the border situation is worsening the spread of COVID.
