San Francisco leaders are preparing to return an indoor mask mandate regardless of individual vaccination status this week, all the while, President Joe Biden’s former top coronavirus adviser says masks don’t work.
“We know today that many of the face cloth coverings that people wear are not very effective in reducing any of the virus movement in or out. Either you’re breathing out or you’re breathing in,” said Michael Osterholm on CNN, who went on to demand Americans wear N-95 respirators.
“We need to talk about better masking,” Osterholm said, who is the director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy.

No city or statewide mask mandates however have required the N-95 respirators which cling so tightly that they often leave lines on the face after worn for several hours such as on airplanes or in places of employment.
The White House coronavirus adviser’s admission comes as left-wing leaders in California’s fourth-largest city bring back mask requirements regardless of vaccination. According to the San Franciscan vaccine tracker, 70 percent of the city’s residents have been vaccinated.

Other cities including Washington D.C., and Los Angeles have similarly brought back indoor mask mandates to inaugurate a forever pandemic as coronavirus cases rise. Death rates however, have not followed the same dramatic upward trajectory. In July last year, the death toll exceeded 25,000 pre-vaccine. Last month, the death toll was less than 7,500.
Meanwhile, more than 50 percent of the U.S. has been fully vaccinated, protected from hospitalization and death. Less than 0.004 percent of those fully vaccinated suffered a breakthrough case which led to hospitalization, and less than 0.001 percent who suffered a breakthrough case died, according to a CNN analysis.
The return of mask mandates erases personal agency from public health with new restrictions imposed across the board without a finish line.
On Monday, Louisiana Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his state would reinstate indoor mask requirements for everyone aged 5 and up.
