California gubernatorial candidate and conservative talk show host Larry Elder released his first campaign ad ahead of the September recall election. In the video, Elder cited the tens of millions of dollars Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-Calif.) incompetence has cost California tax payers.

Elder added that the Golden State should vote to recall Newsom not only for the gas tax hike, but also for policies he said contributed to fraud, corruption, crime and poor school systems.

“The poor get government aid, the rich don’t need it and the the middle class is leaving,” he stated. “I’m Larry Elder and this is a fight for the soul of California.”

Elder has been leading all polls out of dozens of candidates in the state.
