Walk the streets of any Democrat-stronghold city right now: Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, San Fransisco, and so on. Pick your poison. Observe the coastal elites snug in their security blanket masks, under the presumptive impression that the coronavirus ought to last forever.

Now, look at scientific data. Are they sane?

The simple answer is no. To those residing in metropolitan riot-torn areas, a plastic blue covering with earloops has cemented itself as a symbol of political virtue. Wearing the mask has become quasi-religious, with an unrelenting sect of Americans continuing to perceive the public square as a place likely to transmit to them a disease they believe is highly risky for all, but has in fact been severely mitigated by effective vaccines administered at record rates.

Two of the vaccines deployed, by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, have an effective COVID-19 preventative rate above 94 percent. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine, which is less effective than the others, still registers a 72 percent working rate in the United States and 66 percent globally. More than half of Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 41 percent of all Americans—more than 135 million people—have gotten both shots.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a federal agency those on the left have continually determined is righteous despite research frequently contradicting its perpetually shifting guidance, is now apparently unfit in the eyes of the COVID truthers to provide medical leadership. In May, the CDC updated its guidance and said fully vaccinated individuals can put down the mask. “We have all longed for this moment when we can get back to some sense of normalcy,” CDC Director Rochelle Walensky declared at a news briefing.

Still, the left is discontent and cannot let go of the pandemic. They crave it. While several states dropped mask mandates prior to and after the politicized CDC updated its guidance, elites who are in love with their physical bubble were not having it.

“Hundreds of people are still dying ftom [sic] covid every day, multiple new variants are out there, Altho vaccinated I’m still gonna wear my mask in places where others may be unvaccinated,” tweeted actress Mia Farrow.

“I am still going to wear a mask in public just sayin,” said actress and film director Rosanna Arquette.

“My question about the new mask guidelines is: how is anyone supposed to know who is vaccinated? Businesses have no way of checking,” wrote Lourdes Garcia-Navarro, an NPR podcast host.

There has likewise been no shortage of left-leaning outlets normalizing the never-ending pandemic even after the CDC finally updated its guidance. Last month, The New York Times published an article titled “They’re Vaccinated and Keeping Their Masks On, Maybe Forever” that romanticized those who have “grown accustomed to the masks and glad for the extra safety they provide.”

In NBC News, one article offered that people are not psychologically damaged or foolish for wearing masks for benefits beyond ostensible COVID mitigation, noting, “mask-wearers say they see a multitude of benefits to covering up” and “[c]onfusion or ambivalence over whether this is the right time to remove masks is understandable.”

An op-ed in CNN titled “For the sake of children, keep wearing your mask” claimed that ceasing mask-wearing would harm children even though in 2020 those younger than 15 years old accounted for only 0.03 percent of fatalities and are more likely to be murdered than die from the disease.

Myriad politicians are likewise in delusion. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who frequently harped on a “follow the science” mantra during the outbreak, has not lifted the face-covering requirement for members of Congress until every single one is vaccinated.

Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., wrote to Walensky, stating, “It is imperative that the American people know that their elected leaders, particularly the Speaker of the House, are making public policy decisions based on the evidence, not conjecture or what is in their political interests.”

Then there is Dr. Anthony Fauci. Since emerging as a thought leader for those willing to hand their lives over to an exorbitantly paid bureaucrat who changes his mind about public policy at the drop of a hat, Fauci has been given the Ruth Bader Ginsburg-like leftist treatment.

Just as “RBG” is a rallying cry for those who have heralded the leftist takeover of our Supreme Court, Fauci is lauded among elites as a godly figure. He has been tattooed onto bodies, made into stickers, and there is even a creepy “Mr. Sandman” song parody that went viral.

But recently released Fauci emails show that even he has been uncertain of the effectiveness of mask-wearing. In one email from February 2020, Fauci wrote to American University President Sylvia Burwell to say, “Masks are really for infected people to prevent them from spreading infection to people who are not infected rather than protecting uninfected people from acquiring infection” and even suggested she not wear one.

The truth is that we do not need the CDC or Fauci to tell us to drop the masks. As the CDC did in fact note on May 28, “COVID-19 cases and deaths in the United States have dropped to their lowest levels in nearly a year, and the number of people vaccinated continues to grow.”

But forgetting about this basic data illustrating why Americans ought to return to normal, studies have shown the ineffectiveness of masks in adequately preventing infection. Fauci admitted the lack of protection masks provide in March 2020, noting, “There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask.”

Still, those in Democrat-run areas are tied to the hip with masks. While incompetent Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo has finally lifted mask requirements for vaccinated individuals, residents in the Big Apple are following their own science. It is cult-like. “In a group setting, that mask signals allegiance to a set of shared civic values and responsibilities,” offered a report on New Yorkers who continue to mask-up.

America looks like two separate countries with two separate sets of standards. In some parts, the self-contradicting Fauci is a hero due to his allegiance to the “safetyism” dogma Democrats have embraced. In other places, like Tennessee or Florida, or Montana, society is not beholden to fostering this nearly-propagandistic culture of symbol-wearing.

Since President Donald Trump planted himself firmly against a society reliant on arbitrary guidelines and federal diktats about COVID, the left views its dedication to the pandemic religion as fighting the mean-orange man. The denial of the lab-leak theory proved this.

But in reality, the woke pandemic mob is only pledging allegiance to foolish symbolic representation. It shows clear mental disorder.
