Actress Jane Fonda has a unique solution for keeping abortion legal, saying she’s hoping to “redefine vaginas” as weapons.
The 84-year-old activist and former model made the suggestion on her Twitter page following the historic overturning of Roe vs. Wade in late June.
“If a corporation can be defined as a person, why not redefine vaginas as AK47s. That way they’d be free of governmental restrictions by those who care about ‘the sanctity of life,’” she shared with over 900,000 followers.

Most of the comments were supportive, with fans posting comments of praise including, “perfectly put” and “words of a warrior.” Not everyone, however, was amused by Fonda’s outlandish suggestion.
“I think hers is high-capacity,” radio host Dana Loesch quipped in reply.
The “Grace and Frankie” star has been vocal about her support for abortion and her opposition to the Supreme Court decision. When a draft of the decision leaked, Fonda appeared on “The View” to discuss her feelings on the situation.
“And if it does [overturn], fight like hell through the vote. One of the things that this horrendous leak shows us is the importance of voting,” she said, according to the New York Post.
“The Republicans complain about activist Supreme Court, activist lawyers — this is the most activist, politically oriented, narrowly focused Supreme Court in United States history, so we have to vote.”
“We have to mobilize to get out the vote in the midterm elections and in 2024 to make sure that we don’t put in office anyone who does not support women’s right to choose and doesn’t understand the crisis called the climate crisis, which we have only eight years to address,” the actress concluded.
Many celebrities have expressed outrage that Roe v. Wade was overturned, The Daily Wire originally reported.
“They did it. THEY DID IT TO US! #SCOTUS has overturned #RoevWade, enshrined in the Constitution as settled law for over 50 years. How dare they? This #SCOTUS is absolutely tone-deaf to the will and even the actual needs of the American people. #WakeUpAmerica,” actress Bette Midler wrote.
“Throughout history, women haven’t been trusted. Not to vote, or to decide who they marry, and now to make their own decisions about their bodies. But you can trust we will not let this stand, that we will be heard, and we will get the rights we deserve. #RoeVsWade,” former television host Ellen DeGeneres shared.
“I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are – that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that,” singer Taylor Swift tweeted.
