On Wednesday, rap icon Kanye West, who confused many of his followers when he acted in a friendly manner toward former President Trump, issued a tweet (later deleted) in which he questioned the validity of the holiday Kwanzaa.
Kwanzaa was created by black activist Maulana Karenga in 1966; in 1971 he was convicted of felonious assault and false imprisonment. He currently serves as chairman of the Africana Studies Department at California State University, Long Beach. The Kwanzaa festival is observed starting the day after Christmas for 7 days, and involves celebrating seven Swahili values; a candle is lit each day on a candleholder.
“They teach black kids Kwanzaa at Sierra Canyon,” West wrote, referring to a private school in Chatsworth. “What the f*** is Kwanzaa and who made that bulls*** up?” West wrote in an Instagram post. “Everyone lives in LA for the check anyway so no one really cares about their children being indoctrinated.”
Kanye West is one of the realest to ever do it.

Apparently referring to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, he added, “Let’s see if I can get blocked by Mark again.”
In March, West was banned for one day from Instagram after he targeted Trevor Noah of The Daily Show, who had discussed West’s divorce from Kim Kardashian.
“It’s spun into a story that seems fully tabloid but I think deserves a little more awareness from the general public,” Noah said on his show. “I know everyone thinks it’s a big marketing stunt. … Two things can be true: Kim likes publicity, Kim is also being harassed. Those things can be happening at the same time.”
In April 2018, Twitter erupted after Trump and West showed their respect for one another.
Kanye tweeted: “You don’t have to agree with trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don’t agree with everything anyone does. That’s what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought.”
President Trump responded by writing: “Thank you Kanye, very cool!”
Kanye also tweeted a photo of himself wearing a Make America Great Again hat that was signed by Trump and tweeted a photo of himself on a poster that said, “Keep America Great. #KANYE2024.”
