Will Smith’s statement of regret is coming into question after video and reports of the “King Richard” star have leaked online, showing Smith dancing to his own songs in triumphant celebration at an Oscars after-party following his infamous slap of comedian Chris Rock during the show.
“Look at all the regret on Will Smith’s face, as he dances to a Will Smith song at the Vanity Fair party after he took out his frustration with his wife on Chris Rock by slapping the s*** out of him,” one Twitter user commented, captioning video.
The clip shows Smith dancing to “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,” which lines up with a report from the Los Angeles Times on Smith’s behavior following the Academy Awards.

“Smith walked in, triumphantly clutching his lead actor prize and flanked by his wife and three kids, Jaden, Willow and Trey,” the Los Angeles Times reported on Smith and his family arriving to an Oscars after-party.
“Smith did his best to celebrate, even though he was in and out of the Beverly Hills shindig in maybe 30 minutes,” the report said. “On the dance floor, he rapped along to his hits ‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It,’ ‘Miami’ and ‘Summertime’ while keeping a firm grip on his golden statue. … At least half a dozen partygoers requested to take a selfie with Smith, and he obliged. Others held their cellphones high in the air, hoping their aim would be good enough to catch a shot.”
Smith’s son Jaden Smith “was proudly defending his father as he circulated, telling [actor Timothée] Chalamet: ‘That’s how you respect a woman,’” the report added.
And before Smith left, he lifted his Oscar in the air triumphantly as Jaden shouted, “I love you! You did it! That’s what real [N-words] do!”
The 53-year-old actor on Monday evening finally issued a statement that included an apology to comedian Chris Rock, whom Smith smacked over a mild joke about his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” Smith captioned his apology post on Instagram, according to The Daily Wire. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” the actor added. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
