Meghan McCain shared that one of the big reasons she left “The View” was because she “didn’t feel supported” after having her child, and returning to the show.

During her appearance Thursday on the “The Commentary Magazine Podcast,” McCain said the response she got from her former co-host Joy Behar and others after returning from maternity leave in January 2021 ultimately led to her walking away from the show. It starts at the 49:03 minute mark here.

“And then I finally went back to the show, and the day I went back to the show, Joy Behar said on air, ‘Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back,’” the former Fox News host shared.

“And I just … I started hysterically crying,” she added. “And, sorry gentlemen, I know, I started lactating on air, and like crying and hysterical. I was super hormonal.”

McCain said she got off the air, went back to her office and “vomited.” Meghan then called her brother and explained to him what had happened. The two came to the conclusion that the best thing for her was to leave because “it’s not worth it.”

“And that was it,” the former co-host explained. “When Joy said on air after I came back from maternity leave ‘nobody missed you.’”

“I didn’t feel supported when I had my baby,” she added. “And I didn’t feel supported coming back, and that was ultimately it,” she added. “So, that was why I left.”

The former talkshow co-host previously talked about her departure from the show. She explained that Behar’s response to her coming back after maternity leave was one of the reasons she decided that she was finished after four years as the lone conservative on the show.

“You missed me so much, Joy,” McCain joked on air at the time. “You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave … You missed fighting with me.”

Behar replied, “I did not. I did not miss you. Zero.”

McCain officially announced her decision to leave on the air on July 1, 2021.
