Big and small screen star Brad Johnson has died from complications due to COVID-19, the actor’s family shared. He was 62.

Linda McAlister, the representative for the “Melrose Place” star, confirmed that the onetime rodeo cowboy and “Marlboro Man” died in February in Fort Worth, Texas, from pneumonia he received after contracting the coronavirus, the Daily Mail reported on Friday.

His family also shared a tribute to their loved one, whom they called the “true Renaissance man,” in a statement about how “heartbroken” they were.

“Brad Johnson, beloved husband, father and true friend, was called home to his Lord on February 18th, 2022,” the message shared on Facebook read, in part. “From life in the professional rodeo circuit, to a career on the big screen, to hunting bear and caribou in Alaska, to finishing his time selling ranch real estate in the rolling hills of North Texas, Brad was the true definition of a Renaissance man.”

“Although he was taken too early, he lived life to the fullest and taught his children to do the same,” it added. “Brad greatly enjoyed improving and enhancing land, in a way that maintained and respected its natural beauty. He always felt most at home outdoors, and his passion for the land made that evident. As much as he loved cowboying, hunting, and the outdoors, Brad loved nothing more than his family. He always dreamt of a family business that his kids could be a part of and enjoy.”

The post closed by sharing how the TV star “was larger than life, and he will not be forgotten.”

Johnson got his first big break when he landed the role of Dr. Dominick O’Malley in the hit Fox show “Melrose Place” in 1996. He is also known for his role in Steven Spielberg’s romantic/fantasy drama “Always” in 1989 alongside Holly Hunter and Richard Dreyfuss.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Laurie, and their children, Shane, Bellamy, Rachel, Eliana, Eden, Rebekah, Annabeth, and William, as well as three grandchildren and his stepmother.
