Sharon Osbourne explained why she thinks Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t fired after the co-host of “The View” said the Holocaust was “not about race.” According to Osbourne, whose father is Jewish, “nobody gives a f***” about “the Jews.”
During the 69-year-old TV personality’s interview for The Sunday Times, the former co-host of the daytime show “The Talk” broke down why she thinks the “Sister Act” star’s comment was treated differently than her own after she was ousted from her show, reported The Independent in a piece published Sunday.
“I’ll tell you why, because it’s the Jews, and nobody gives a f***,” Osbourne said.
In March 2021, Osbourne and her former co-host Sheryl Underwood got in a heated exchange on the air over her support for Sharon’s pal Piers Morgan, who made comments about Meghan Markle following the Duchess of Sussex’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in which she accused the royal family of racism, among other things, as previously reported by The Daily Wire.
“I feel like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist,” Osbourne shared during the show at the time. “I will ask you again, Sheryl … and don’t try and cry because if anyone should be crying, it should be me. This is the situation, you tell me where you have heard him say racist things. Educate me.”
“It’s not the exact words of racism,” Underwood replied. “It’s the implication and the reaction to it. To not want to address that because [Markle] is a black woman and to try to dismiss it, or to make it seem like less than what it is, that’s what makes it racist.”
“The Talk” took a brief hiatus. The wife of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne apologized, but it wasn’t long before reports surfaced she wouldn’t be back on the show.

Morgan faced a backlash last year after he said on his former show “Good Morning Britain” that he “didn’t believe a word” of the interview that the duchess and Prince Harry gave to Winfrey, which included accusations of racism against the royal family.
He later said that he lost his “job at Good Morning Britain because” he “chose not to [apologize] for disbelieving Meghan Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey,” in a lengthy post on Instagram.
During the original episode on the ABC daytime talk show in January, Goldberg brought up the idea that the Holocaust was “not about race” during a discussion about the graphic novel “Maus,” because the Nazis and the Jews were both white. She said “man’s inhumanity to man” was the real “problem.”
“Well, also if we’re going to do this, let’s be truthful about it because the Holocaust isn’t about race,” Whoopi shared at the time. “No. It’s not about race. … The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is. It’s how people treat each other. It’s a problem.”
Goldberg later tweeted an apology and was suspended from appearing on the show for two weeks.
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments,” ABC News president Kim Godwin shared in a statement. “While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends and communities.”
