Tiffany Haddish said Will Smith’s defense of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith at the 94th Academy Awards — when he struck Chris Rock in the face — “was the most beautiful thing” she’s “ever seen.”
“When I saw a black man stand up for his wife,” the 42-year-old actress shared at the Governors Ball after the Oscars, reported People magazine in a piece published Monday.
“That meant so much to me,” she added. “As a woman, who has been unprotected, for someone to say, ‘Keep my wife’s name out your mouth, leave my wife alone,’ that’s what your husband is supposed to do, right? Protect you.”
“And that meant the world to me,” Haddish continued. “And maybe the world might not like how it went down, but for me, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen because it made me believe that there are still men out there that love and care about their women, their wives.”

The “Girls Trip” star then asked whether the person doing the interview would do that for their wife after Rock cracked a joke during the show that appeared to be about “The Matrix Revolutions” star’s alopecia battle.
“Would you say, ‘Keep my wife’s name out your mother f***ing…’ Like, yes! Yes!” the comedian explained.
The comedian also suggested it was because the “Men In Black” star noticed his wife was “hurt” he attacked Rock.
“If she wouldn’t have been hurt, [Will] probably wouldn’t have said nothing,” Haddish shared. “But you could see he was clearly… And they exploited it. They exploited her, so ‘I have to do something’… He protected his wife.”

During a segment at the Oscars, the 57-year-old comedian remarked about how no one was wearing a mask in the theater before he turned his attention to Denzel Washington and praised him for his part in the movie “The Tragedy of MacBeth.” The superstar comedian then spotted Will Smith’s wife in the audicen and cracked a joke about how Jada was going to be in the next “G.I. Jane” movie.
“Jada, I love ya,” Rock told the audience. “G.I. Jane 2 movie, can’t wait to see it.”
The “Red Table Talk” host rolled her eyes and appeared to be upset.
Her husband, the “King Richard” star, looked like he too did not appreciate what appeared to be a remark about his wife’s alopecia battle.
The superstar actor got up out of his seat, walked right up on stage, and struck the comedian in the face. It didn’t appear to be a planned move.

“Oh wow, wow. Will Smith just smacked the s*** outta me,” Rock announced to the crowd.
Will Smith mouthed the words, “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth!”
“Wow, dude,” Rock replied. “It was a G.I. Jane joke.”
