White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki deflected questions from Fox News’s Peter Doocy about whether President Joe Biden has “ever been to the southern border?”

“In his life?” Psaki asked.

“Yes,” Doocy confirmed.

Psaki did not directly answer the question but instead promised to “look back in my history books” and let reporters know when Biden might have traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border. Doocy, who was already one step ahead of her, noted that he could not find any public records of a visit from Biden even before his time as a career politician.

“We have been looking all morning and we cannot find any record of him visiting the border as president, vice president, senator, or even as a concerned citizen. Why would that be?” he asked.

Psaki then became defensive and pressed Doocy on why he cared to ask the question.

“This is a president who makes a point when there are disasters in this country, like a wildfire or hurricane, to go and see for himself firsthand what the needs are of the local community so he can have an informed [point of view] to make policy,” Doocy pointed out. “Why doesn’t he go down to Del Rio, Texas, to see what’s going on?”

Later, Doocy joined Fox News live and noted that “it’s been about seven hours since Jen Psaki said she was going to check the history books for a … Joe Biden visit to the border” but no one at the network had heard back. The Biden administration and Psaki also failed to provide reporters with the number of Haitians who are released into the states or deported despite previously promising to do so by the end of the afternoon.

Vice President Kamala Harris previously came under fire after refusing to visit the border for three months after she was appointed by Biden to evaluate the root causes of the migration crisis. When she finally made the trek to El Paso, Texas, she denied that it was her “first trip” and said she always had plans to travel to the scene of the crisis.
