COVID-19 authoritarianism is skyrocketing around the world as the corporate media drums up panic about the Omicron variant of the virus.
In Greece, individuals 60 years old and over will be required to get the COVID-19 jab by Jan. 16, 2022, or risk a 100 euro fine.
“We are focusing our efforts on protection of our fellow citizens and for this reason their vaccination will be mandatory from now on,” Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said last week in a cabinet meeting.
The mandate comes shortly after the nation banned anyone who did not receive the shot from public “indoor spaces” regardless of whether they test negative.
In other areas of Europe such as Northern Ireland, members of the Alliance party called for political censorship against groups advocating against vaccine passports. Councilor Danny Donnelly and Member of the Legislative Assembly Stewart Dickson complained that the organization Big Brother Watch and other groups protesting a looming legislative vote on vaccine passes are “putting lives at risk,” and demanded the digital advertisements featuring the group’s message be turned off “ASAP.”
In Canada, any travelers older than 12 years old must show proof of full vaccination to take any form of public transportation including domestic and international flights as well as trains.
“Starting November 30 at 3:01 am EST, vaccination will be required for travel within and to depart Canada,” the Candian travel website states. “A valid COVID-19 molecular test will no longer be accepted as an alternative to vaccination unless you’re eligible for one of the limited exemptions.”
In Australia, citizens are subject to being randomly thrown into “quarantine camps” for weeks at the will of the government despite testing negative for COVID-19. In the Australian state of Queensland, citizens who have not received “a minimum requirement of two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine prior to receiving a kidney, lung or heart transplant” will not receive the life-saving treatment they need.
These authoritarian measures used to force people in other countries to get the shot or face consequences are also creeping into the United States. Despite judicially-invoked holds on most federal mandates issued by the Biden administration, Penn State will require all employees who don’t get the jab before Jan. 4 to undergo a form of reeducation meetings with supervisors and even possibly a seminar that attempts to convince employees to get the shot. Employees who still refuse to comply could face “unpaid administrative leave and termination.”
In Nevada, state employees who have not received the COVID-19 shot will be charged “up to $55 per month” through their insurance plan “to offset the cost of testing that those who haven’t gotten shots are required to undergo in certain workplaces.”
In New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio expanded the city’s vaccine mandate to require “all employees and patrons” over 12 years old to have at least two doses of the COVID-19 shot.

While the COVID-19 vaccine has certainly been the most popular excuse to push tyranny, Oregon is creating its own permanent pandemic by drafting a rule to keep indoor masking rules indefinitely.
As Federalist Senior Contributor Georgi Boorman noted in her recent column, “the vaccines were supposed to help end the pandemic, and now the pandemic is constantly framed in a way that serves more vaccines and invasive government power, no matter what the data says.”
