Evan Rachel Wood has levied some serious abuse allegations against her former boyfriend, musical artist Marilyn Manson. Now she’s going into graphic detail about some of the incidents, including a situation where Wood claims she was “essentially raped” as a camera crew looked on.
The incident in question was discussed as part of a new documentary called “Phoenix Rising” that premiered at Sundance Film Festival on January 23, NME reported.
Wood said it happened in 2007 while filming the music video for Manson’s song, “Heart-Shaped Glasses (When The Heart Guides The Hand).”
“It’s nothing like I thought it was going to be,” Wood said of her participation in the video. “We’re doing things that were not what was pitched to me.”
She continued, “We had discussed a simulated sex scene, but once the cameras were rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I had never agreed to that. I’m a professional actress, I have been doing this my whole life, I’d never been on a set that unprofessional in my life up until this day. It was complete chaos, and I did not feel safe. No one was looking after me.”
The “Westworld” actress said, “It was a really traumatizing experience filming the video. I didn’t know how to advocate for myself or know how to say no because I had been conditioned and trained to never talk back—to just soldier through.”
“I felt disgusting and like I had done something shameful, and I could tell that the crew was very uncomfortable and nobody knew what to do,” Wood said. “I was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretenses. That’s when the first crime was committed against me and I was essentially raped on camera.”
Wood made headlines last year by going public with claims that Manson began grooming her as a teenager and then “horrifically abused” her for years. She also alleged the hardcore rocker “brainwashed and manipulated” her during their relationship.
After Wood went public with her testimony, four other women came forward “detailing harrowing experiences that they claim included sexual assault, psychological abuse, and/or various forms of coercion, violence, and intimidation.”
The musician has denied all allegations by Wood and the others, saying his accusers were “cynically and dishonestly seeking to monetize and exploit the #MeToo movement” by launching a “coordinated attack against him.” He was immediately dropped from his label, Loma Vista, plus by his agent, manager, and publicist after the allegations went public.
“Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality,” he said. “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners.”
Manson and Wood began dating when she was 18 and he was 36. They were briefly engaged in 2010. The actress had discussed past instances of sexual abuse before, but had never named her alleged accuser until the shocking Instagram post in February 2021, which cited Manson (whose real name is Brian Warner) as the perpetrator of the abuse she had spoken of for years.
