Meghan McCain blasted the passage of a new abortion law in Colorado that protects aborting a baby through all nine months and up until birth, calling it “heinous, pure, unadulterated evil.”

“A culture that commits this kind of heinous, pure, unadulterated evil on the most innocent and helpless – the unborn, will not survive,” the former co-host of “The View” tweeted Monday to her hundreds of thousands of followers.

“We are a deeply sick people,” she added. “What kind of world accepts aborting a baby through all 9 months and the moment of birth? God help all us all.”

McCain’s post included a retweet of a post from writer Lila Rose about the passing of the law that read, “BREAKING: Colorado Governor Jared Polis has just signed into law a bill legalizing abortions through all nine months, up until the moment of birth.” Rose’s tweet thread about the bill included a link to the Colorado bill that can be seen here. (Abortion was allowed up to birth prior to this bill. This bill codifies abortion access into law.)

Polis signed the bill called the Reproductive Health Equity Act, HB22-1279, which states that, a “pregnant individual,” not woman, has the right to continue the pregnancy or get an abortion. It also states that a fetus does not have independent rights under Colorado law, reported CBS Denver.

“Across the country, and here in Colorado, abortion rights are under attack from GOP politicians who want to ban abortion in all cases – here in our state, we won’t let that happen,” said Rep. Meg Froelich in a statement. “Coloradans have made it clear that they want to keep abortion legal in our state. I’m proud Governor Polis has signed the Reproductive Health Equity Act into law to safeguard reproductive rights in Colorado.”

“With reproductive freedom under attack at the federal level, we’re taking historic action today to ensure Colorado remains a safe haven for folks in need of reproductive health care,” said Sen. Julie Gonzales in a statement. “Until today, Colorado law didn’t expressly protect the right to abortion care. We’re changing that because all Coloradans should have the freedom to make decisions about their lives and their futures. This landmark bill enshrines the fundamental right to abortion into Colorado law, and we sincerely hope other states choose to follow our lead. The health and well-being of millions of Americans depends on it.”

With the Colorado passing of this law, it joins 15 other states who have protected a woman’s “legal right to an abortion.”

As previously reported by the Daily Wire:

McCain has been very open on social media about her life as a mom, her pregnancy, and even thinking the miscarriage she and her husband Ben Domenech suffered before she became pregnant with their daughter Liberty might have meant she wasn’t supposed to be a mother.

“I pray to God and I pray to my dad when I’m going through hard times,” the Daily Mail columnist shared, reported People magazine previously. “I do both, which maybe sounds weird, but I just feel like my dad’s in heaven and I find comfort in praying and asking him for advice.”

“I was like, ‘Please make this decision for me … because I’m OK with being able to have kids or not being able to have kids, I just want to have some kind of resolution,’” she added. “And then I got pregnant really soon after, and I found out I was pregnant right after I had gone home to Arizona for the first time since he [my dad] died.”

McCain and Domenech tied the knot in 2017. In September 2020, McCain gave birth to their daughter Liberty Sage.
