The drama between Kanye West and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian is quite intense right now for a multitude of reasons. Now the couple is sparking controversy as the debate rages again over their 8-year-old daughter North dancing in TikTok videos while wearing makeup.

It’s not the first time Ye has expressed anger over his child being on the social media platform. After his public plea to have her stop, Kardashian didn’t post any videos featuring North for a while. Then over the weekend Kardashian, North, and Kourtney Kardashian’s daughter Penelope posted a video wearing dark makeup and lip-synching to the song “Emo Girl” by Machine Gun Kelly. This was enough to get West going on his Instagram.

“I told y’all before about this tik tok stuff,” he wrote in the Instagram caption under a screenshot of the newest video (via Buzzfeed). “Now my 8 year old on here signing she fell in love with an emo girl Leftists don’t want fathers to have no say in our childrens lives.”

Another post, which was also deleted later, showed a screenshot of North wearing black lipstick and eye makeup. The “Donda” rapper wrote, “My daughter will not be lead [sic] by people who don’t believe in God I am in a very good place and a very God place inside the will of God I am being still right now This all feels like a set up They want me to react.”

Next, West shared screenshots of texts he received from fellow rapper The Game which accused Kardashian of intentionally trying to make Ye angry.

“They’re trying to use North against you,” the text began. “They know that’s your only trigger. They aren’t using the other kids because they aren’t old enough & are pretty much babies. Saint on Tik Tok wouldn’t trigger you as much because he’s your son & and our boys have US in them.”

“North & Chi pull on your heart strings the most because they are delicate children,” the text continues. “They’re girls & we our protectors due to our knowledge of women being abused in this world.”

In the past, critics pointed out how West seems much more worried about his daughters in comparison to his sons, plus accused the rapper of “sexualizing” his daughters before they’re grown up. Still, his supporters claim it’s an inherent trait in any father to worry about their girls.

“Kanye is a ‘girl’ Dad, North is his 1st born, Instinctually, he’s just here to protect her, That should be respected no matter what,” rapper Consequence tweeted as a response to the current TikTok controversy. But even that observation was met with resistance from other Twitter users who accused Consequence of “defending all the abusive behavior and misogyny under the pretense of loving fatherhood.”

As long as Kardashian and West are co-parenting with different perspectives and values, these issues are bound to keep coming up in a very public way.
