Like so many fans out there, Kanye West is thankful for Candace Owens.

The billionaire rapper took time Saturday to publicly recognize the “Candace” host for sticking up for him on the matter of his 8-year-old daughter, North, having access to TikTok. Ye mentioned that other celebrities have been texting him their support, but so far haven’t shared anything publicly.

“THANK YOU CANDACE FOR BEING THE ONLY NOTEWORTHY PERSON TO SPEAK ON THIS ISSUE,” West shared on Instagram next to a screenshot of Owens’ tweets.

“THERE’S A LOT OF CELEBRITIES SCARED TO SAY SOMETHING IN PUBLIC BUT THEY’LL TEXT ME IN PRIVATE AND SAY THEIR ON MY SIDE I WILL NO LONGER PUT MY HAND THROUGH A BLENDER TO HUG MY CHILDREN.”

West went on to relate a personal story.

“MY MOTHER TOOK ME TO CHICAGO WHEN I WAS 3 AND TOLD MY DAD IF HE CAME TO CHICAGO HE WOULD NEVER SEE ME AGAIN SO I BOUGHT THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR I DREAM OF A WORLD WHERE DAD’S CAN STILL BE HEROES.”

The situation began earlier this week when West shared an Instagram post questioning why North was allowed access to TikTok and implying he was against it. The 8-year-old has a shared account with her mother, Kim Kardashian. The SKIMS founder filed for divorce from her husband of seven years in December 2021.

West shared a screenshot of one of North’s TikTok videos via Instagram and said, “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL ?”

Multiple Twitter personalities chimed in on the debate, including Owens.

“There is no 8 year old in the world that needs social media. Go color,” she shared originally.

“Kim is wrong on this one,” another tweet from Owens read. “The psychological effects of social media on young girls is real and documented. It’s actually Kanye that is trying to protect his daughter in this regard and Kim is spinning this as ‘obsession’ and ‘control.’ There are other creative outlets for kids.”

After West wrote his thank you post, Owens shared it and reiterated his last line, “I dream of a world where dads can still be heroes” along with a string of fire emojis.

Meanwhile, Kardashian was less than thrilled with Ye’s denouncement of her parenting choices. She replied to West’s admonishment with an Instagram story of her own.

“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” Kardashian wrote in part.

“As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness. Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.”

The mom of four also said she “wanted nothing but a healthy and supportive coparenting relationship,” and that she wanted all future communication to be private.

“It is what is best for our children and it saddens me that Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way,” Kardashian concluded. “I wish to handle all matters regarding our children privately and hopefully he can finally respond to the third attorney he has had in the last year to resolve any issues amicably.”
