“The View” host Sunny Hostin said that her family considered suing former President Donald Trump after both her mother-in-law and father-in-law died of COVID-19.

Hostin made the comments during Thursday’s broadcast of the ABC midday talk show, saying that she believed the former president and his administration were ultimately to blame for many of the lives lost during the pandemic.

Whoopi Goldberg began the segment with a clip of former “Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace interviewing the White House’s chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci about the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It was very painful and that’s the reason why I had to do something, but I know I alienated a lot of the Trump people, maybe, in fact, all of the Trump people,” Fauci said. “I had to go to the podium and say, I’m sorry, I disagree with you, but his staff declared war on me, and war on me was they did sort of opposition research on me, and sent out information that I didn’t know what I was talking about. So my position in the White House became extremely uncomfortable, and, in fact, untenable because I kept on telling the truth.”

“He also agreed that if the former administration had focused on public health instead of the politics, a lot of lives could have been saved,” Goldberg continued.

Joy Behar then asked whether the former president and his administration could potentially face a class-action lawsuit from those who had lost loved ones during the pandemic.

“If all these people who got Covid because of the lies and misinformation, isn’t there a class action suit that they can sue that administration and all those people who took her words and changed them or took them out?” she asked.

Hostin mentioned her husband, Emmanuel Hostin, who lost both of his parents to COVID-19. “My family has thought about this a lot, especially because Manny’s parents died from COVID, and I blame the Trump administration for that,” she said.

“But can you sue them?” Behar asked again.

“We’ve explored it. We’ve explored it. We’ve thought about it,” Hostin, a former prosecuting attorney herself, did not say why she ultimately has not pursued legal action against Trump and his administration.

Convicted murderer Arnett Thomas did file a class-action lawsuit against the former president in 2021, accusing him of using the American people as essentially guinea pigs in a massive experiment on herd immunity.

“Trump did not kill just one person on Fifth Avenue in New York City and got away with that murder, he is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people across the expanse of America,” Thomas claimed in the suit.
