Venture capitalist and president of The Thiel Foundation Blake Masters is seeking the GOP nomination in Arizona’s 2022 senate race. The populist candidate has become known for his straightforward messaging and willingness to tackle social issues that moderate Republicans often shy away from.
Masters continued that trend on Thursday by releasing a campaign video imploring the Supreme Court of the United States to overturn Roe v. Wade. Masters said the country needed to “get back to not killing babies” and provided a special emphasis on the impact that abortion has had on the black community.
“There’s a genocide happening in America. Under Roe v. Wade, the federal government recognizes a ‘right’ to kill babies in the womb,” Masters stated in the video. “And so every year, hundreds of thousands of young lives are destroyed.”
“Thirty percent of black babies are aborted in this country. We’re talking 20 million babies since 1973. We got to get back to not killing babies,” he added. “And it starts with overturning Roe.”
Masters closed his video by saying he approves “this message because life is always worth protecting.”

Masters’ video comes a day after the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the monumental Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case that has the potential to overturn Roe.
On Wednesday, The Daily Wire brokedown the highlights of the case, providing key background and information:
The case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, concerns a 2018 law in Mississippi that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. As the law stands now, Roe v. Wade and the decisions that came after it hold that states have to allow a woman to be able to get an abortion up to the point of viability, or when the baby can survive on its own outside the womb. Most states hold this mark at around 20 to 24 weeks.
If Mississippi is successful, and the law is upheld, it would directly go against precedent already set by the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, and it would also cut against Planned Parenthood v. Casey, decided in 1992.
Following oral arguments, The Daily Wire interviewed Professor Sherif Girgis, associate professor of law at Notre Dame Law School, who was a former law clerk to Justice Samuel Alito.
Girgis told The Daily Wire, “I think there are a lot of close court watchers who would have said at 9:59 [before the arguments began] that there’s no chance the court overturns Roe, but would now tell you that’s the likeliest outcome.”
Immediately after oral arguments Wednesday, Masters also expressed his belief Roe would be overturned. He posted a video stating, “Roe v. Wade was a lawless power grab. Everybody knows it. That’s why after this morning’s arguments — that the Supreme Court right behind me — I’m optimistic the court is going to do the right thing and overrule it.”
