Former NFL star Jack Brewer slammed alleged hate crime hoaxer Jussie Smollett and his media pal Don Lemon on “Fox & Friends First” Wednesday morning, telling the audience that he was appalled by the “garbage” he saw on networks like CNN in support of the “Empire” actor.

“To have major media outlets like CNN, people like Don Lemon, supporting this garbage?,” Brewer, the CEO of the Brewer Group, told the host. “Growing up in Texas, I never thought that I would see a day where you’d have two high profile Black gay men on television supporting this type of nonsense,” he continued. “It’s unbelievable, the message that we put out and portrayed to these kids across our nation.”

“It makes you wonder … this spiritual battle — we are not staying on the side of God,” Brewer, who is also a Christian evangelist, added.

“We don’t want to talk about Christ in our schools anymore. And you can see, look — just look at this — you can see that people are sick right now. People’s minds are twisted and they need to have their minds renewed like it says in Romans 12 and 2. We cannot be conformed by this world. Because this type of mess is transforming the minds of our kids. It’s Satanic, it’s devilish, and we got to stop it.”

“America is better than this. Black America is better than this,” Brewer declared. “Every African-American leader should be standing up against this nonsense right here. It happens too much. It’s happened hundreds of times where people are using hate crimes and faking them for their own personal gain. Stop it! We’re better than this.”

Earlier in the week, The Daily Wire reported Lemon had texted Smollett advice during an ongoing police investigation, telling his friend that police did not believe his story. The CNN host has spoken at length about his friendship with the Hollywood actor.

In 2019, Lemon said that as a fellow gay black man he texted the actor “every day,” reported USA Today:

“Every day I say, ‘I know you think I’m annoying’ – I can show you a text – ‘I know you think I’m annoying you, but I just want to know that you’re OK, and if you need somebody you can talk to me, ’cause there’s not a lot of us out there,’ ” Lemon recalled. “Sometimes he responds; sometimes he doesn’t. He responds and says, ‘You are not annoying.’ “

When asked if he was afraid following the act of violence, Lemon said he had been living with angst.

“I’ve had fear recently… because of the political environment,” he said. “I get death threats… I have security, all of these things that happened. Listen, we’ve always been divided ideologically, but there’s something different going on now.”
