Elon Musk ribbed “Saturday Night Live” right back after the show mocked the tech billionaire’s intentions to take over Twitter and restore the kind of free speech he believes the platform has abandoned.
“Weekend Update” segment regulars Colin Jost and Michael Che joked in the skit about Musk being a poor businessman and only wanting to buy the platform to allow white guys to say “the n-word.”
“Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for over $40 billion so he can loosen its free speech restrictions,” Che began the segment, The Daily Wire reported. “That’s how badly white guys want to use the ‘N-word.’”
“Honestly, I don’t understand why Elon even wants to own Twitter,” Jost replied. “It used to be something that seemed important and even fun and now you look at it and it’s confusing and depressing. It’s the Giuliani of apps.”

Musk, who was a guest on the show in May, 2021, responded with a tweet showing a clip of the segment and his succinctly brutal review of the Left-leaning and once-groundbreaking comedy show.
“SNL is so rarely funny these day (sigh),” Musk wrote, adding a link to a 2019 post from satire site The Babylon Bee.
“Report: Long-Running Political Lecture Show ‘Saturday Night Live’ Will Shift To Comedy Next Season,” the Bee headline said.
“A new report out of well-known political lecture show Saturday Night Live indicated Friday that the series will undergo a drastic genre change, shifting to a comedic format,” the satirical post said. “Insiders claim the series will attempt to have jokes, funny skits, and clever writing. It’s a major change for the series, since it pretty much just lectures you on what to believe politically at this point.”
“We wanted to try something different,” the Bee quoted a fictitious SNL writer. “I know that just having angry, nonsensical lectures against the right has been a really popular format for the 682 viewers we have left, but we wanted to shake it up a bit. We started thinking, ‘What if we make up funny parodies and do clever skits and stuff?’ Someone dug up some old footage from the show 30 years ago and it seemed like they were doing that kind of stuff then. I don’t know, maybe it is worth a shot.”
“In order to assist with the shift to comedy, showrunners have reportedly resurrected Chris Farley,” the Bee added, referring to a late cast member who was actually funny.

Musk disclosed Thursday that he has received commitment letters for $46.5 billion in funding for his hostile takeover of Twitter and is considering going straight to shareholders with a tender offer.
The tech billionaire and world’s richest man has repeatedly indicated that he plans on opening up transparency and adhering to principles of free speech, if he does snag the company.
