It took a few weeks, but sooner rather than later, a shakeup was coming in college football.

Oregon football has been playing with fire ever since beating Ohio State on the road in week two and losing to a sub-.500 Stanford team in week five.

They struggled with Cal, trailed UCLA by 14 in the first quarter, and failed to impress against Washington and Washington State.

It finally caught up to them in week 12 against Utah.

The No. 24 Utes put a whooping on the Ducks, taking a 28-0 lead into halftime, and never allowing Oregon back into the game.

The loss ended any hope the Pac-12 had of ending their four-year College Football Playoff drought, and validated those that felt that Orgeon’s ranking was much too high, even with their win in Columbus, Ohio.

With Oregon out of the way, the CFP committee has a lot to think about, but Cincinnati should be the next team to sneak into the top-four. For now, we focus on the updated Associated Press top-25.

The big move is by Ohio State who jump three spots to No. 2 following an absolute shellacking of No. 7 Michigan State. The Buckeyes held a 49-0 lead at halftime, and Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud made his case for the Heisman, completing 32-35 passes for 432 yards and six touchdowns.

Alabama and Cincinnati moved back a spot to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Cincinnati had their own impressive win, beating SMU 48-14. Quarterback Desmond Ridder finished the day 17-23 for 274 yards and three touchdowns through the air, rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and added the first receiving touchdown of his illustrious career for good measure.

Notre Dame moved up to No. 5, still with a legitimate shot of making the CFP, depending on what happens ahead of them. Alabama would likely have to lose in the SEC Championship Game in order for the Irish to have a chance of sneaking into the top-four.

Michigan jumps two spots to No. 6 ahead of their massive matchup against Ohio State on Saturday.

Oklahoma State (7), Ole Miss (8), Baylor (9), and Oklahoma (10) round out the top-10.

The Utes jump from No. 24 to No. 16 following their win over Oregon, and UTSA remains at No. 15 after their last second win over UAB to remain undefeated. Oregon falls to No. 11 and Michigan State to No. 12.
