Podcast host Joe Rogan last week said it was “f***ed up” that transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, who previously competed in men’s athletics, is cleaning up against biological female competitors.

Rogan told podcast host and comedian Tim Dillon that biologically female athletes are being forced to compete against biological males without having any say in the matter. In a sport like MMA, Rogan argued, a female fighter could agree to a fight a transgender fighter who is biologically male. But in a sport like swimming, you can’t choose your competitors.

The commentary was sparked when Dillon asked Rogan about the heat Rogan took for comments he made about transgender MMA fighter Fallon Fox, who notably fought at least three biological females without disclosing the fighter’s status as transgender and a biological male.

“Well, the trans MMA thing was big, but it wasn’t — it wasn’t valid,” Rogan told Dillon.

“It was people that don’t want any criticism whatsoever about trans people,” he continued. “And I was like, ‘Look, I don’t have a problem with trans people, right, I have a problem with someone pretending that they’re a biological woman and fighting women.’”

Rogan asserted that the biological advantages biologically male fighters have over biological women are large. But added that he doesn’t have a problem with a biological woman agreeing to fight a transgender fighter if they are aware of what they are doing.

“Once you say you’re trans and everybody says, ‘Okay, I’ll fight her’ — fine. I’m fine with that,” the UFC color commentator said.

“In fact, MMA is one of the best places for that because you know exactly who your opponent is,” Rogan argued. “Unlike like this swimmer [Lia Thomas]. Was it UPenn? Is that what it is? The swimmer that’s like lapping all these biological women, that’s f****d because they don’t have a choice they have to compete.”

Back in 2013, Rogan called out Fox over vicious fights against biological women.

“She calls herself a woman but… I tend to disagree … She wants to be able to fight women in MMA. I say no f***ing way,” Rogan said at the time, according to Bleacher Report.

“I say if you had a d*** at one point in time, you also have all the bone structure that comes with having a d***. You have bigger hands, you have bigger shoulder joints. You’re a f***ing man. That’s a man, okay?” he continued.

“I support your life to live, your right to live as a woman,” Rogan said. “Fight guys, yes. She has to fight guys.”

The podcast host noted that transgender surgeries don’t “shave down your bone density. It doesn’t change. You look at a man’s hands and you look at a women’s hands and they’re built different,” he said. “They’re just thicker, they’re stronger, your wrists are thicker, your elbows are thicker, your joints are thicker. Just the mechanical function of punching, a man can do it much harder than a woman can, period.”

“You can’t fight chicks. Get the f*** out of here. You’re out of your mind. You need to fight men, you know? Period. You need to fight men your size because you’re a man.”

Rogan added that he loved watching women’s fighting and was not discriminating. What he was referring to with Fox is “a totally different specification,” he said.
